During this tour we will immerse ourselves into the history of almost a thousand years, admiring the beauty and majesty of the medieval village of Gerace, considered among the most beautiful villages in Italy for its elegant buildings, for its numerous and characteristic churches of various styles, including above all the Cathedral (the largest in all of Southern Italy – entrance €3.50) and the Piazza delle Tre Chiese.
We will walk through the alleys of the village, breathing its magical atmosphere, typical of a medieval village nestled between the sea and the mountains, finally we will reach the breathtaking Belvedere delle Bombarde. Lunch (optional) in a typical Geracese restaurant.
Option 1(Gerace+ Farmhouse Experience “Barone Macrì”)
– visit,experience at the Agriturism Farm House Barone Macrì with visit to the oil mill, the dairy farm and the animal farm, typical lunch(optional) at the farmhouse restaurant.
Option 2(Gerace+ Stilo)
-visit of the borgo of Stilo (also called the “little Byzantium”) a naturalistic and historical village with Byzantine origins and its wonderful Cattolica church (ticket entry €4), an emblematic monument of refined beauty of the Byzantine Calabria, the church of San Francisco and the monastery of San Juan Theristis Fuori le Mura di Stilo, a splendid Orthodox monastery.
